Ho scattato questa foto quasi al termine di una giornata trascorsa a visitare i luoghi dello sbarco in Normandia. Davanti al monumento ai caduti di Omaha Beach ho visto questa bambina che giocava. Mi ha colpito il contrasto tra l'orrore evocato dal monumento e l'innocenza della piccola.

Bronze Elephant at Palace of the Lost City

Bronze sculpture of an elephant called Shawu by Danie de Jager. This is at the entrance from the Valley of the Waves to the Palace of the Lost City at Sun City in South Africa and was taken in Feb 2011. This internationally known sculpture is a life size bronze of an African elephant.

On a very hot day we ventured to a water park on the outskirts of Saigon. We were the only non Vietnamese there. It was full to bursting with Saturday morning school groups and we were surprised that hardly any of the children could swim. So many inflatable rings in such a small area of water.

Zeer indrukwekkend! Vanaf 's middags was men al bezig om kaarsen overal te plaatsen en aan te steken. 's Avonds liep de hele stad uit om bij de processie aanwezig te zijn, waarbij een kruisbeeld werd gedragen en het wemelde van de bloemen. Kippenvelmomentje!
Ridders in Lucca!

Tot onze grote verbazing sloegen deze "ridders" het tentenkamp op net buiten de stadsmuren van Lucca! Ze bleven hier het hele weekend bivakkeren om -op traditionele wijze- de dagen door te brengen. Heel bijzonder om te zien, voelen en ruiken!
