4. Cosimo

Cosimo is a small, elegant and perfectly formed apartment, built for two, located in the heart of Florence. Situated on the third floor of an historical building in Piazza della Signoria, it is just few steps from the likes of the Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi. Decorated in a classical Florentine style, it is comprised of a welcoming entrance, living room and kitchen area with high end appliances, a beautiful double bedroom, and elegant bathroom. A perfect balance between warm and luxurious, this apartment is ideally located to explore the city. With one bedroom and sleeping up to three, it is available from €154 per night.

The Duomo di San Gimignano, also known as Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta (Collegiate Church of the Assumption of Mary),is a Roman Catholic Collegiate Church and the cathedral of San Gimignano. It is most famous for its incredible murals and paintings, which include works of famous artists such as Taddeo di Bartolo, Domenico Ghirlandaio and Lippo Memmi. In fact, the building is only one of many celebrated buildings that make up the ‘Historic Centre of San Gimignano’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just find a luxury villa in San Gimignano and visit this amazing cathedral and the astounding historic centre in which it is located. There are few towns so picture-perfect as this and it is well worth exploring.

A while ago our booking team set off for a visit to the Podere Lo Spadino, a new Tuscan country house close to San Gimignano and one of the favorites of our guests!

A visit to this house is a visit to the Montagnani Family. Because we must tell you that this house was born from an idea, a difficult but a strongly desired wish that the owner Maris had since he was young: his idea to build a house entirely with his own strength and own hands.

According to several researches Maris made and in analyzing some manuscripts left by his ancestors, the Montagnani Family has lived some centuries on the territory where the province of Florence borders the province of Siena, close to San Gimignano. The characteristic symbols of this area are part of the family's coat of arms which can be found in the medieval Town Hall in Certaldo.

There is no shortage of things to see and do and incredible attractions in Tuscany but there are seven designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the region: the historic centre of Florence (initiated in 1982); the Cathedral square of Pisa (1987); the historical centre of San Gimignano (1990); the historical centre of Siena (1995); the historical centre of Pienza (1996); the Val d'Orcia (2004), and the Medici Villas and Gardens (2013).

3. The Historical Centre of San Gimignano

If you feel like eating the best ice-cream in the world, you're going to need to find a luxury villa in San Gimignano. Located in the central Piazza della Cisterna, known all over the world and visited by a large number of celebrities is the Gelateria Dondoli or Gelateria di Piazza. The gelateria has won countless awards, invents flavour combinations that attract gourmet-lovers to the town on a regular basis and has made it World Champion on two occasions. Arguably, this is one of the best places in the entire world to try some ice-cream and, particularly in a land known for its ice-cream, this is no small claim.

Good place to relax. Be aware of no german channels on TV, if of interest. Kitchen a bit poorly equipped if you want to cook larger dishes. Very comfortable bed.

Wir waren sehr angetan. Die Lage des Apartments ist traumhaft. Der Blick und die Innenausstattung ist exakt wie auf den Fotos! Die Kommunikation mit Chiara lief problemlos und sie hat immer sehr schnell geantwortet. Den Pool konnten wir leider aufgrund des schlechten Wetters nicht nutzen, aber er war sehr sauber. Die Anfahrt ist ein wenig abenteuerlich. Eine Buchung ist absolut zu empfehlen!

[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] We were very pleased. The location of the apartment is fantastic. The view and the interior is exactly as in the photos! The communication with Chiara ran smoothly and she always answered very fast. Unfortunately we could not use the pool because of the bad weather, but it was very clean. The access road is a bit adventurous. A booking is absolutely recommended!

We fell in love with the property from the moment we walked in, and the surrounding area as we explored it. There were all the homely touches you'd hope for, plenty of pillows, throws, candles... all these things added to the home comforts of staying here. I would say though, if you have a phobia to bugs & spiders, you should consider staying in a city rather than a Tuscan farmhouse. We found a side-effect of having all the windows and doors open on arrival gave us some little friends to 'deal' with but thankfully there were no heart attacks. I thought this would be worth mentioning as somebody with a serious phobia who isn't used to the countryside could have the wrong expectations. Chiara communicated so well with us. Check-in was a breeze and she directed us when we were lost finding the place. She gave us helpful tips and recommendations about local towns and a restaurant in walking distance. Chiara also checked that everything was fine. I'll never forget the peace and quiet reading my book in the private garden as the sun went down... The location is absolutely fantastic. We managed lots of trips including Volterra, San Gimignano, Pienza, Sienna to name a few - all were reasonable drives. We cooked for ourselves nearly every night. There was a big supermarket in the nearest town about 10 minutes from the property and the kitchen amenities were sufficient for us to make delicious meals with fresh produce.

Es un apartament molt ampli, pràcticament una casa. Té molta privacitat i tots els estris necessaris per passar uns dies de descans. Molt a prop de San Gimignano en un entorn rural preciós. La piscina és un plus. La comoditat del llit no estava a l’alçada de la resta de l’allotjament.

Very close to San Gimignano in a beautiful rural setting. The pool is a plus. The comfort of the bed was not at the height of the rest of the accommodation.

We very much liked the appartment. It was nicely furnished. Good to know: We used the kitchen quite intensively - All equipment is there and works perfectly.
