Conveniently located 1 km (4118 ft) from Parrino, Italy and only 35 km (22 mi) from San Gimignano. Parrino is a nice holiday rental with shared pool and WiFi internet. The villa / farmhouse / home has a total of four private apartments. The property can accommodate up to 18 people comfortably in seven bedrooms with seven bathrooms. In nearby towns there are local shops where you can find fresh produce and other items. If you can't find what you need locally, there is a shopping center located 9 km (6 mi) from the property where you can purchase your groceries and personal items.

Recorded history dates back to the time of Etruscans and the Romans, but archaeological evidence shows that a settlement of some type has existed on this spot since the Paleolithic era.

The city today lies in the province of Pisa and has roughly 27,000 people in it. On first inspection, San Miniato may not appear to be anything out of the ordinary for Tuscany. Look closer, and a bit lower and you just might find something though...

San Miniato is known for not something that grows above ground, such as the olives and grapes that are so iconic for the region. Instead, this small town produces 25% of Italy's white truffles, prized by chefs and gourmands everywhere. Known as the Tuber Magnatum Pico, or the Food of the Kings, it grows only centimeters below the ground and can be found in a very limited area. As many things in Italy, strict laws govern how the truffles can be gathered and sold. It was here in San Miniato that the largest white truffle on record was found. It was presented as a gift to a visiting Harry Truman just after the end of his presidency in 1954.

The small, picturesque town of San Miniato was located on the important via Francigena during medieval times, linking it with northern Europe and Rome. It was also located on the route between the Lucca-Siena and Florence-Pisa roads, giving it a wide range of influences from around Italy as well as abroad.

Yet this interesting town's history goes even further back than that, because archaeologists have found evidence that the city has been settled since the Paleolithic era, surviving through the Etruscan and Roman periods. Its long history of settlement may be due in part to its strategic location, on top of three small hills in the province of Pisa, Tuscany.

The owner lamberto was very friendly and helpful. Property was well equipped and clean on arrival. The laundry is free and the pool was a good size and clean. The outdoor spaces and furniture required cleaning and maintenance (a bit old or covered in leaves/mud) but given we were the only guests due to Covid-19 the place was well kept.
