La Pimpinella Apartments is a fantastic complex of 3 apartments with shared pool for an unforgettable holiday in Tuscany: it has undergone a complete renovation which, after many years of work, has resulted in a property where history and tradition co-exist with the best of modern comforts. The rules of eco-construction have been respected; the walls have been treated with lime and in the older building, ancient plasterwork dating back to the 1800s has been uncovered.
This is a children’s paradise: clean air, no cars, the scent of flowers and the chance to race around the fields.
The property is made up of one main building with 2 units ("Scheto 1" and "Scheto 2") with 3 bedrooms each and a third apartment ("Teatro") with 6 bedrooms not all internally connected.
The owners, who live in a section of the main house, are very kind and hospitable, and show great respect for the privacy of their guests.
You are welcome to help yourself to the delicious produce grown just outside your front door; the vegetable garden and orchard can provide fresh fruit and vegetables every day while the olive groves and vineyards that surround La Pimpinella provide an extra virgin olive oil and a Chianti wine that you can sample and enjoy in the company of your friends and family.
A beautiful and shared swimming pool is located in a raised position on a large plot of land and allows you to relax and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
Nature lovers will adore the surrounding woods and nature trails that will lead you to discover the area, its beauties and its special places such as the "Leonardo da Vinci Bridle Way" (path 457). The ancient dams, situated along the Agliena and Borraccio rivers, were studied by Leonardo Da Vinci in 1540, and evidence of his work can be found in his Codex Leicester, now owned by Bill Gates.
The location of La Pimpinella offers the possibility to spend a wonderful holiday surrounded by nature in one of the most evocative places in Tuscany. With a little notice, you can go horse riding or mountain biking from the property.
The historic town of Barberino Val d'Elsa is less than 3 km away and has all kinds of shops and restaurants with panoramic views where you can enjoy typical Tuscan dishes.

The property is reached via a 2 km dirt road that is unsuitable for sports cars or very low vehicles.

The castle itself was built on the site of an ancient watch tower, the Cepparello fortress, which was located a little lower down the slope and was abandoned and destroyed after the Battle of Montaperti in 1260. Built in the 14th century, the Castello della Paneretta is a striking medieval stronghold that is characterised by massive walls, a Guelph battlement, and corner towers, all framing a keep at the centre.
