The house and property are absolutely stunning! The grounds are beautiful and well manicured. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all very nice, and there is a perfect variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to eat, read a book, enjoy a glass/bottle of wine and relax. We spent a lot of time by the pool and it is a spectacular setting.
As others have mentioned, the driveway is an adventure, but after the first time we found it to be fun.
While the house was amazing, there were a few things that didn't work well for our group/family. Despite making a reservation for 12 (6 adults/6 kids) and providing names, ages and passport numbers, they were only expecting 10 and charged us extra. After sorting that out, we were greeted with tour of house and told of the things we and the kids should not do. We were then shown a large binder of rules that were sometime conflicting with our tour of rules (the house manager said we absolutely could not go in the garden while the book said it should be enjoyed). This set a tone upon arrival that caused a bit of stress within the group.
The last thing to be aware of is the constant care of the property, as the house manager starts cleaning and vacuuming around 7:30am, and there are regularly gardeners and grounds people maintaining the property so it's not always quiet or private.
Ultimately, despite the things mentioned above, we had an amazing time both in Lucca and the surrounding area and at the house. The setting is idyllic, the house is beautiful, and the pool is amazing.

Our family had an absolute wonderful time in Villa Gaville, when we stayed for a week in July. The villa itself is stunning with new facilities that are all of very high quality. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The villa is very spacious with beautiful bedrooms, all equipped with everything that you might need. The location and views are spectacular. There are numerous places to sit, relax and enjoy the views in the beautiful gardens, which are impeccably kept. The swimming pool, which our kids absolutely loved, was very well maintained and clean.
The location was perfect. Right in the heart of Chianti, close to some beautiful small villages as well as the larger towns of Florence and Sienna.
As beautiful as the place is, the highlight for us was the wonderful hospitality that Elisabetta and her family provided. They were extra conscious about providing us with privacy while at the same time could not have been more welcoming, helpful and hospitable. Elisabetta had great suggestions about places to go and things to do, which we very much appreciated. Not only did Elisabetta provide us with wine and food when we arrived, not to mention a beautiful desert, but we also had the opportunity to sample her mother’s wonderful cooking while we were there.
We truly had an amazing time at Villa Gaville, made even more special by Elisabetta and her family and we definitely hope to come back again.

Comfortable villa in a beautiful setting, albeit rather a long and bumpy trip from the main road.
The house itself was comfortable and roomy enough for the seven of us who stayed there.

We felt the kitchen could have been better equipped. There were two very small coffee machines , totally inadequate for seven. There were no salad serves or sufficient kitchen utensils. We bought a spatula as there wasn’t one. We complained about the dishwasher we couldn’t get it to work but we’re told it was an industrial one as guests broke domestic dishwashers. We had to ask for tea towels.

We thought there would be a change of linen and towels during our two week stay but there wasn’t. Pool towels were charged at 4 euros each. We ended up buying our own rather than pay that. It would have beeen helpful if it had been pointed out that pool towels were not included.

Outside the pool was well maintained and the garden delightful. However the pool furniture was ofpoor quality and dilapidated. Some sun beds were unusable. The sun umbrellas were very difficult to put up as one had to be extreme till to reach the mechanism.

Reception was chaotic at best. On our first evening we were asked if we wanted dinner in the restaurant and we said yes. When we turned up there was a wedding going on and no one around interestedi infeeding us! The following week we attended a buffet dinner in the complex. The food was served on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. The food was ok but completely marred by this. Bottles of wine and soft drinks were left on a table but there was no price list and we were unsure if drinks were included in the cost of 25 euros or not. The whole event was shambolic.

A truly wonderful experience staying at Villa Pedone. I booked it for my 50th birthday. We were a party of 14 and our experience overall was fantastic, we had dinner served a couple of nights which was great value, very well presented and the food was fabulous too. Duccio was a great host, very informative, responsive and helpful. The house is in a beautiful setting with great views at every turn a truly beautiful place to stay with tonnes of history & character. We had access to the pool which was essential for our stay in July. My only suggestion is that you bring bug repellent when staying during the hot months. I would highly recommend staying at Villa Pedone for private parties or family holidays. You will love it. I really hope to stay again.

We loved it! All sixteen of us! It's the best of town and country: the front door opens onto the main street of the small village, and the back has the most glorious vista of Tuscany--and a pool as well. Funky charm and plenty of room for all of us--the eight bedrooms, huge dining room, big kitchen with one prep table, one table to sit around, several living/sitting rooms, lots of bathrooms, a big balcony, and a separate huge terrace. The parking for our four cars was tight, but doable. It would work better with four smaller cars or three mid-size. We definitely recommend it.
