Review Details:
The Deodara is fantastically located about 15 mins off the Fi-Pi-Li which connects Florence and the coast. It sits atop a ridgeline with views across the whole Arno valley to the south and wooded hills to the north. The house is relatively large and old, with a peaceful feel, large wooded grounds, and a pool with an attractive arched loggia which offers vital shade if the pool is to be used all day in the height of summer.
On the other hand, it is an old family house in need of updating to be considered "comfortable". Although the owner very kindly replaced the fridge and dishwasher during our stay, there are underlying issues which may compromise the stay for some visitors. Water pressure is negligible to the extent that we stuck with the bath. Some bathrooms have smelly plumbing. The electrics are very dubious, with sockets wired in both the new and old form - a number of them not working. The oven is eccentric ...
We therefore, on balance, had a lovely stay and would certainly consider staying there again for the property's pool, loggia, location and views. However, if your creature comforts are important then you may want assurances of improvements.
