Review Details:
We visited Tuscany in the beginning of Sebtember 2011 and really enjoyed our week in Collina Verde 2. There were 11 adults and 1 child in our group and the villa had plenty of space for us. The villa was beautiful and cosy and the it was located right next to a olive garden. The scenery was fantastic and breathtaking.
The service was great although the caretaker spoke only Italian which caused a few misunderstandings. In our opinion there should be some kind of written manual for the villa (with a map, basic information about the villa and the property´s rools, contact information for the nearest restaurants, timetables for the bus etc.) but there was no such thing so we had to find out all the information ourselves.
Because the property is also an olive and wine state we enjoyed the property´s own red and white wine and olive oil. We especially recommend the olive oil - it was the best we ever tasted.
We had a wonderful time cooking in the kitchen - althought it was not as well equipped as we would have hoped (no wine glasses and only one proper knife). The pool was good and very handy during the hot days.
We had no car in our use because none of us wanted to drive in the "crazy" italian traffic. Because the advertisement said that the nearest restaurant, shop and bus stop were just 1 km away we thought the property would be centrally located. The 1 km proved to be around 2-3 km depending on the target - so the location was not so convenient as we would have hoped. But the nice scenery and lovely people made up to it. We would although recommend other visitors to rent a car, it makes the stay a lot easier - if they are up to the italian traffic!
We used the local buses 25 and 43 to get to Florence and visit the sights, museums and shops. Unfortunately the bus 43, which has a bus stop right next to the villa, went only a couple of times a day so we usualle had to walk to the bus stop of bus 25 which was aproximately 2 km from the villa and the road was very mountaneous.
Anyway we had a great time, the locals were really friendly and nice and of course the food was divine!
