Skateboarding on a ramp
For those of you who get your thrills from skateboarding or street luging then enjoy it in the beautiful region in Tuscany if you decide to holiday here! There are many skate parks and street luging tracks available in Siena for example. There's also a great selection of holiday villas in Siena to rent during your stay here.

Skateboarding is extremely popular here and there are many schools to learn the skills as well as shops to rent or buy skateboards and protective equipment. It originated in the 1940’s in California when surfers were at a loss for what to do when the waves were too flat to surf. So they started messing around the idea of attaching wheels to the bottom of wooden planks and skating around.

It was first known as sidewalk surfing and later became ‘skateboarding’. There is a fantastic skate park in Vicchio outside Florence if you want to give it a go or even just to watch!
Street luging race
Try something new with a thrilling street skating sport called street luging! It’s a gravity powered activity where the racer lies back on a specifically designed skateboard and whizzes down a steep hill.

This is an adrenaline fuelled fast paced sport where speeds of one hundred and sixty kilometres per hours can be reached by the experts. It originated in California when skateboarders discovered that they could travel faster downhill if they lay back on the boards and let gravity and momentum do the rest.
Street luging
As the sport evolved, so did the body board that was used. It usually has six to eight sturdy wheels and a steering mechanism for racers to zoom downhill around corners without overturning.

There are two fantastic skating centres in Bologna and Pisa where there are nearby sports shops where you can rent these boards and find suitable slopes to race them down!

These extreme sports are just a few of the many available sports across Tuscany including some thrilling air, water sports, skiing and other ground activities. Read through them to help you decide which ones you’d love to do most on your stimulating adventure holiday here!
