The Renaissance In Tuscany!

Example of Renaissance Art
The birth of the Renaissance movement in Italy is generally believed to have taken place in the Tuscan city of Florence. A change of thinking began here before the rich wave of artistic culture followed. Some thoughtful minds in Florence realised that life wasn’t supposed to be as hard and weary as the Dark Ages insinuated.

By reading through the histories of earlier civilisations, especially those of the Romans, Etruscans and Greeks, they realised that their lives could once again be marvellous. By dedicating time and effort into building a fountain of knowledge, creativity and passion for the finer things in life, a movement called the Renaissance (meaning re-birth) came to fruition!

Within a relatively short period of time, with the right amount of sponsorship and embracement of this refreshing concept; huge advancements were soon made in the fields of science, literature, the arts and engineering.

Many people were seeing the wonderful benefits of pursuing a life of knowledge and learning to enable them to become highly trained in their chosen profession and better able to help their fellow man.

Florence had become a rich city by the late 1300s and with the help of eager businessmen, artisans and plenty of money; artistic ideas were allowed to bud and blossom with ease. In the 1400s, a powerful and wealthy banking dynasty, the Medici Family rose to power in Florence. They sponsored huge sums of money to boost Florence’s status and reputation as being a magnificent Renaissance city.
