Val d’Orcia was added to the prestigious list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2004. It earned this rise under two specific criteria. One was thanks to incredible efforts undertaken during the Renaissance by landscape visionaries to delicately enhance the natural beauty of Val d’Orcia.

This was done by lining land borders with aesthetically pleasing vegetation and dotting the area with typical Tuscan cypress trees to complete the enchanting picturesque look of the area.

This led to Val d’Orcia being the subject of many splendid artworks, detailing the perfect harmony created between man and nature during this enlightened era.

It is a perfect example of how important the maintenance and preservation of landscape integrity is to the culture of a particular area.

Val d’Orcia is also home to two of the most famous DOCG wines in Italy; Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Visitors are sure to enjoy a wine tour around local vineyards producing this wine as well as lots of other archaeological sites and attractions spread out across the towns and villages located here. So come and see this magical place yourself for a few days during your next vacation to Italy!
