Go Skiing In Cutigliano In Tuscany

Palazzo Pretorio, Cutigliano
We've already discussed skiing in Abetone while in Tuscany but another good option are the Doganaccia ski slopes at Cutigliano. The resort is located in the Municipality of Cutigliano in Pistoia and it stretches along nearly 10 kilometres of downhill slopes. While there are fewer kilometres to ski by comparison to Abetone, there is a really good balance of slopes for beginners and kids and those for expert skiers. There are also options for those who can't, or don't want to, ski at all. Basically, the slopes of Dognaccia are great for involving everyone in the group or for ensuring that the whole family has fun. All you need to do is find a vacation rental in Pistoia and then you can spend a few days out on the slopes!
Skiing
Doganaccia is a very popular and picturesque Tuscan summer holiday resort and has long been a haven for Italian intellectuals, with the Tuscan dialect still being spoken there. In the winter, it is also a popular holiday resort, though of a different kind, a ski resort. With the advent of artificial snow, a full season of skiing options is ensured, even if it isn't actually snowing. The resort is reached by a cablecar and, upon arriving, you’ll find the resort’s ski school, served by a ski-lift, which also provides access to three other slopes (‘Tre’, ‘Due’ and ‘Chierroni’). Another ski-lift called ‘Faggio di Maria’ serves the second part of a slope by the same name, as well as the second part of the ‘Direttissima’ slope.

If you're not great at skiing there are also plenty of other alternatives such as ski tubing and cross-country skiing. The facility’s cross-country ski trails wind around Lake San Gualberto and Croce Arcana for 3.2 km. There is a seriously fun Snow-Tubing slope for kids, and kids at heart alike, to enjoy, served by a moving treadmill that will facilitate your trek back uphill with your tubes. A segment of the Ski camp’s area is also equipped for younger skiers. You can also just enjoy the whole atmosphere of the place, the beautiful views and surroundings and take in traditional Tuscan life and cuisine by grabbing some food at the Rifugio del Viandante or the Refugio del Bicocca. Alpine skiers, however, will delight in the area’s several alpine ski itineraries that link Croce Arcana to Monte Cornaccio.

For a ski trip in Tuscany that will keep everyone happy, there's nowhere better!
