Siena's centre is a historical and cultural treasure trove but when in Italy one of the major attractions has to be the food!
Tucked into corners and down winding little streets, the city has plenty of amazing little restaurants to keep any visitors happy. Here are just a few of the places that are unique to Siena and certainly add to its charm.
Why not find yourself a luxury villa nearby and spend a week or two living the good life – wandering the city, seeing the sights and, of course, tasting the food!

A five minute walk from the Piazza del Campo, Cacio e Pere is a restaurant that offers a little of the nightlife that Siena somewhat lacks. A combination of bar and restaurant, it attracts a young crowd and has a relaxed atmosphere.
Local artists and photographers exhibit their works on the walls and they have been known to host theatrical productions by local companies as well.
A recent initiative is the Aperitivi Musicali, a series of night concerts with each dedicated to a particular genre of music. For fun, music and good food, this is just the spot!

Tre Cristi (Three Christs) is a restaurant which takes its name from an ancient shrine nearby that houses the image of Christ shown between the two thieves. The work was placed there in 1865 and said to have replaced an earlier 18th century work that became damaged over time.
Tre Cristi, the restaurant, has been around since 1830 and has a stylish interior that is a mixture of twenties decor and medieval-inspired paintings. Stylish and enduringly popular, it's the place to go if you want to dress up and experience a Sienese institution.
If you're just out to grab a snack and want to go enjoy it in the sun or at whatever attraction you are visiting that day, La Bottega dei Sapori Anthichi is an absolute must. Eat in or take away a panini with a wide variety of fillings, a nice wine and local sweets such as panforte (fruitcake) and cantucci (almond biscuits). Also located near the Piazza del Campo, it is convenient for any of the tourist sights in the centre of town.
Any visit to Siena would not be complete without sampling and enjoying the local cuisine. Next time you stop by, keep these spots in mind and thank us later!
