Borgo Monticelli is a beautiful place, the historic buildings, grounds, estate have been beautifully and sympathetically renovated following the traditions of Umbria. The buildings are well furnished and comfortable. I have stayed in many places in Umbria and this has to be the loveliest.
We visited Borgo Monticelli in late October. At this time in the season the restaurant was not open and it wasn't warm enough to use the swimming pools so I cannot comment on these facilities. We were made welcome by the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Our only difficulty was that we arrived in the evening and there was no welcome pack; milk, bread etc would have been very helpful as the shops were closed, as were the majority of the local restaurants as it was a Monday, closing day in much of Italy.
That aside we spent a week in peace, quiet and tranquility, good accommodation and with wonderful views of the countryside. I would happily visit Borgo Monticelli again and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
