As noted, there are lots of beaches too choose from in Tuscany, and all kinds of variations from private beaches with luxurious amenities to rocky and dramatic beauties to picture-perfect sandy gems that one could mistake for tropical paradises. However, today, we are focused on a particularly unique and memorable example: Feniglia Beach, or Feniglia Dune.

However, today, we are focused on a particularly unique and memorable example: Feniglia Beach, or Feniglia Dune.
Feniglia Dune, known as Duna Feniglia in Italian, is a seven kilometer-long bar of soft sand and one of the two stretches of beach that connect Argentario with the mainland of Tuscany and that divides the Orbetello Lagoon from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Framed by Mediterranean vegetation and pinewoods, the beach is part of the Riserva Naturale Duna Feniglia and is, therefore, protected in order to preserve its ecological importance and natural beauty. The water is crystal-clear, the trees offer some natural shade and a place to go wander to stretch the legs and take a break from the sun on hotter days (though it is quite a trek from the car park), and the scenery is pleasantly untouched. While not the most dramatically beautiful beach in the world, it is undeniably charming and has lots to offer the discerning visitor. That it is sandy rather than a pebble beach is a big plus.
Impressively expansive and rarely crowded even during the peak of the high season in the summer, Feniglia is a lovely, spacious, and child-friendly beach for those who prefer less busy options or who are travelliing as a family. Public paid parking can be found just a few meters from the shore meaning that little ones, prams, and the accoutrements of travelling with kids don't have to be dragged far in the heat, the beach slopes gently into the sea and remains shallow for some distance making it safe for children to swim, and there are plenty of amenities to make your life easier - from toilets to umbrella and lounger rentals to snack bars. Vendors selling on the beach will also be selling almost anything you could need or might have forgotten to pack. There are also several different beach clubs, bars, restaurants, and more to choose from in the area. Move further down the beach, away from the carpark, if you're looking for more space and peace and quiet away from kids or if you want to get closer to the wilder and untouched part of the strand, by the pinewoods. You can also seek out the pet-friendly area (Playa del Can) if your party includes some four-legged members.

Easily reached from the town of Porto Ercole, Feniglia is one of the quietest beaches in the popular surrounding area and is a brilliant spot for long days relaxing by the sea, working on a tan, enjoying the noteworthy and lovely warm waters, soaking up the chilled atmosphere, and making use of the truly excellent amenities. So, if you have found your perfect vacation rental on the Tuscan Coast and you are planning some great days at the beach, then you could find few better places to do so than Feniglia. Be sure to include it in your itinerary on your next holiday in Tuscany!
