Villa San Gennaro, Gardens

Villa San Gennaro, San Gennaro, €309 - €461 per night

For those who love the countryside and a vacation rental in Tuscany with some history and a story to tell, this stunning old villa in San Gennaro is ideal. Located 21km from the gorgeous Medieval town of Lucca, Villa San Gennaro is not totally isolated but boasts both privacy due to its location, lovely and manicured surrounding grounds, and the walls around the property, as well as some rather remarkable sweeping views over this corner of the Tuscan countryside. The villa itself is truly picture-perfect with lots of charming details such as the abundance of flowers and trees in the garden, the shuttered windows, the elegant and symmetrical facade, and the elegant interiors where period details mix with a considered and well-finished modern touch. Expect high ceilings and spacious rooms, comfortable but tasteful plush furnishings, lots of windows and French doors opening to the garden and views, three relaxing bedrooms (sleeping up to ten people), two bathrooms, a delightful kitchen, a separate dining room, and two living rooms. Outside, you can enjoy more delightful surroundings and amenities with al fresco dining with a view on the terrace, a lower terrace with a pool area, and a lawn with sun loungers for sunbathing. This really is the kind of perfect Tuscan villa that people picture escaping to when they imagine a holiday in the region! With two weeks of availability still left in August and almost all of September still free, Villa San Gennaro is just waiting for you to come see out the summer in style.

Villa Badia, pool

Villa Badia, Badia Agnano, €614 - €942 per night

Speaking of ideal Tuscan villas in the countryside, Villa Badia also perfectly fits that description! Located 4km from the town of Badia Agnano in the scenic and famously lovely Arno Valley and just 12km from the beautiful medieval town of Arezzo, Villa Badia is a true idyll. Surrounded by lush tree-covered hills, the property is a perfect place to escape to, far from daily life and concerns. This charming Tuscan stone villa sleeps up to twelve in six bedrooms and has four bathrooms in addition to a cute and welcoming kitchen that opens onto a separate dining room, a cosy living room that is connected to the dining room, and bookshelf-lined corridors. The interiors are modern and bright, with pops of colour, cool works of art on the walls, and lots of playful details, which one might not expect from just looking at the picturesque exterior as it is a much more typical and traditional Tuscan style.

Villa Badia, interior

The surprises and charms of Villa Badia do not stop there, however. In addition to the pretty house with its delightfully funky interior, the property boasts equally picturesque grounds full of lawns, trees, and flowers, as well as a pool area with perfect facilities. Located on a terrace beneath the villa with a brilliant view over the surrounding landscape and greenery, the pool area of Villa Badia is neatly tiled and framed by plants and sun loungers and umbrellas, making it the perfect place to lounge about all day on your vacation in Tuscany. Around the villa you will also find several areas to enjoy drinks and meals al fresco. One of these spots is on a terrace just off the villa that overlooks the pool, another is under a pretty little porch to the side of the villa, and another is in a shaded spot under some trees on the lawn. With everything you could ask of a perfect Tuscan getaway villa, this gem is booked up for the rest of summer 2022 but is available for almost all of September, which is an ideal time to travel for those who prefer to avoid the crowds and the more intense heat that come with summer.
