Tranquil , secluded & spotlessly clean. It's an adventure to find it , but once you get there , the family ( as long as you understand a little Italian ) ; their wine & olive oil are delightful .

New Review Submitted for Podere Lo Spadino located in San Gimignano, Tuscany, Italy.

Rental Date: Saturday 17th of September 2011.
Renter Rating: 5/5.
Review Details:
We shared Podere lo Spadino with 3 other couples in September 2011 and used it as a base for our stay in Tuscany.

The villa itself provided lots of space for 8 in a high quality newer stone-built building with beamed ceilings and lots of character. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, each with its own ensuite bathroom. We entertained friends staying in the nearby Podere Lazzarona two evenings and had lots of tableware for a crowd of 13. Water temperature seemed to be a bit of an issue for some of our party; it sometimes seemed cold when it was wanted hot; and sometimes warm when it was wanted cold. This was never a problem for us, so perhaps it is an issue with some of the rooms only. (Or maybe we were the first to shower!) It was great to have access to laundry facilities. While we as a couple tended to eat out, some of our friends made good use of the kitchen for their breakfasts and even lunches.

The Montagnani family live on the property below the rental space and couldn't be more welcoming and friendly. Barbara speaks English; and as I speak some Italian this allowed us to talk with some of the other family members (who are all very nice people) and so communication was not an issue.

The location was outstanding - Podere lo Spadino is beautifully situated on a gentle rise looking toward San Gimignano. It was wonderful to have San G as our 'home base' town as it was so picturesque. We had a quick breakfast in San G at several different cafes, and it was nice to see the town before the arrival of the hordes of tourists. We also ate dinner at restaurants in San G with the group on 3 evenings. We were very conveniently situated for those who wanted to visit Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Montepulciano, or the Chianti area. Some of the small cities and towns closer by are also very interesting, particularly Volterra, but we also enjoyed Certaldo and Monteriggioni.

I would have no hesitation recommending Podere lo Spadino to anyone looking for a comfortable higher quality place to stay in central Tuscany.

New Review Submitted for Torre Antica: Solatio located in Tavarnelle Val Di Pesa, Tuscany, Italy.

Rental Date: Wednesday 7th of September 2011.
Renter Rating: 4/5.
Review Details:
The property was delightful with stunning views and a short distance to the village. The unit itself did not have a lot of light, but the small kitchen / dining area flowed nicely onto the garden. Sergio was very helpful with advice on sightseeing and general information. Sharing his supply of tomatoes and for 25 euros he and Antonette provided a very nice, typically Italian meal to guests. The bedrooms are a good size, but the door leading out of one them wasn't able to be opened to allow for a flow of air because it was inadequately screened and obviously hadn't been used for some time. On arrival there were no basic kitchen items that one could presume to be available such as a dishcloth, washing up detergent, hand towel etc.The pool was lovely and the setting delightful.
