La Casa nel Borgo is located in the ancient hamlet of Cantalena Alta and is now part of an almost completely restored rural complex consisting of 6 small houses, where efforts have been made to keep alive the ancient traditions and times gone by, using stone in the restoration along with original reclaimed materials.
A road that climbs through green woods and breathtaking views will lead you to La Casa nel Borgo. The first time it may seem a little challenging, but as soon as you arrive at your destination you will be rewarded with absolute peace, stunning views, unspoilt spaces and unforgettable sunsets. The place is your paradise if you are a nature lover, surrounded by cool green forests and inhabited by local wildlife. It is not difficult, on summer evenings, to come across friendly hares, porcupines, roe deer or fallow deer.
The small hamlet has a beautiful panoramic swimming pool (10x5 mt, depth 1.20-1.60 mt - open from 17 May to 27 September) completely fenced and with a Roman steps, which is about 100 metres from your house and in common use with the other guests. In the solarium you will have your own private area with 4 sun beds and a sun umbrella, where you can spend your lazy days by the pool. The house also has a private, shaded area with a table and chairs, where you can enjoy your meals in the peace of the cobbled alley.
The house is equipped with all the necessary comforts, furnished in rustic style, reminiscent of the rural homes of our grandparents, the beamed ceilings (the size of some of the doors are quite small), the terracotta floors, the old marble sink... we can assure you that spending your holiday here will be a real plunge into the past!
The little house, in our opinion, is ideal for couples, even with children; if you wish to get away from it all, it will become your favourite place, you will only be disturbed by birdsong, and in the morning you will wake up to a wonderful view to greet you. At Casa nel Borgo quiet, tranquillity and the slow, lazy flow of the days will be the watchwords of your holiday. The nearest shops are in Castiglion Fiorentino, about 15 km away. And about 9 km away, in the lttle village of Santa Cristina, you will find a small grocery shop and a Tuscan restaurant. We find Podere Marcigliano nestled in the green Valdichiana, on a gentle hill at the gates of the town of Cortona, which is a must-visit destination. Podere Marcigliano consists of 2 newly built villas, which nevertheless reflect the architectural characteristics of the farmhouses of the past. Apartments Sofya and Selene are located in the same building and can be especially recommended for 2 families travelling together. La Gabola, La Gabolina and La Turata, on the other hand, are individual and independent houses, perfect for those who like a little extra privacy.
All around the farm a large green space where each house has its own private corner with a gazebo equipped with table and chairs. This will be your favourite place on warm summer evenings, chatting with friends and a good bottle of red wine. Le Chianacce farm was founded in the last century and was aimed at raising the prized beef and pork that has always been produced in this area. The owner wanted to recover a part of it, leaving it completely identical to the original construction and equipping it with simple and essential furnishings, which will bring you back to the warm atmospheres of times gone by.
Near the farm you will find the small village of Farneta with the eponymous Abbey of Romanesque origin, which is definitely worth a visit. Because of its strategic location, from the house you can easily reach all the most important art cities and tourist resorts of central Italy.
Only 7 km away you will find the characteristic town of Foiano della Chiana, with its red brick buildings, perched on a green hillock. In Foiano there are all the necessary services, restaurants and trattorias where you can enjoy typical dishes and local wines, supermarkets, stores, pharmacies. If you love shopping, a few kilometers away, you will also find the Valdichiana Village.
The Farm has six apartments, four of which are available to guests, and two inhabited by the owners. Casa Bella is a typical stone villa situated on the top of a hill and offers a 360° view of the green hills of the Senese countryside. To give you an idea of how exceptional the view from Casa Bella is, we can tell you that we have often organised painting courses here. Looking around you will find inspiration in the landscape, which in itself is something to frame. Families with children as well as groups of friends have enjoyed their holidays in this villa, fun for young and old is guaranteed. The warm colours of the walls and the simple furnishings make the house warm and welcoming.
Every day offers a new opportunity to enjoy something different: relax in the panoramic garden, take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool (8x4 meters, 1.20 meters deep, fenced – open from May 1st to September 30th), or engage in exciting matches of volleyball or tennis on the small multi-purpose sports ground (18x9 meters). You can also enjoy table tennis, billiards, or foosball for some friendly competition. Children can play in the children's playground next to the swimming pool. After dinner in the gazebo next to the pool you will be delighted by the sunsets, which offer different lights and colours every day.
You will certainly not be inclined to leave the house, but as there are beautiful towns and cities rich in art nearby, we would advise you not to miss the opportunity to visit them. Torrita di Siena, Montepulciano and Pienza are all within a maximum of 20 km, Siena is 50 km away.

You will find Villa Scianellone 1.5 km from the town of Torrita di Siena, a characteristic and turreted medieval village. In the village you will find shops, restaurants and services of all kinds. In a few minutes by car you can reach the beautiful villages of Montefollonico (10 km) and Montepulciano (12 km), which are well worth a visit and a stop, where you can taste the typical dishes and above all the prestigious and renowned wines of the area such as the 'Nobile di Montepulciano'.
