Originally dating to the beginning of the 20th century, the property was meticulously renovated by its owners in 2011 using traditional materials that honour its historic character, including Barberino stone walls, terracotta floors, open-face beams, and travertine finishes in the bathrooms. The name Le Macine is itself a tribute to the property's heritage, derived from the 2 antique millstones of an old oil mill that line the entrance drive. The farmhouse enjoys a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding Tuscan hills and valleys, creating a setting of rare natural beauty. The fenced-in property extends over approximately 1 hectare of land and offers ample private outdoor space, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking tranquillity and authenticity. Guests benefit from private parking on site, a generous yard spanning two terraced levels planted with lawn, cypresses, and olive trees, and reliable Internet Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the stay.

Outdoors

The outdoor spaces of Le Macine are as impressive as the interiors, offering a seamless connection between the house and the surrounding Tuscan landscape. The panoramic portico serves as the heart of outdoor living, equipped with a hammock, table, and chairs, making it the ideal spot for al fresco dining while taking in the breathtaking views of the countryside. The kitchen also provides direct access to the portico, further enhancing the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Between the house and the swimming pool, guests will find a large brickwork barbecue, perfect for leisurely evenings under the open sky. The non-heated swimming pool is set approximately 10 metres from the house in a panoramic position and is accessible via 5 terracotta steps descending from the house side, as well as 5 stone steps and a small ramp in lava stone. The pool measures 7 x 10 metres with a constant depth of 1.40 metres and features large entry steps, a sand-coloured PVC lining, and chlorine purification. The pool border is finished in stone, while the surrounding solarium area is paved in terracotta. Sun beds, a sun umbrella, and a cold-water shower are all available for guests' use. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October. Please note that photographs of the property were taken in spring, meaning that flower blossoming and the colours of the garden grass may differ from what you observe upon arrival.

Unit Layout

Le Macine accommodates up to 6 guests across 3 well-appointed bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, distributed over 2 floors of the farmhouse. The main entrance, located beneath the panoramic portico, opens directly into a welcoming living room featuring an imposing fireplace that also functions as a wood stove. To the left of the living room is a spacious kitchen with direct access to the portico. A corridor connecting the kitchen and the living room leads to the sleeping area on the ground floor, which comprises a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with shower and a twin bedroom with joinable beds, also featuring an ensuite bathroom with shower. A terracotta staircase rising from the kitchen leads to the first floor, where a further double bedroom is found, complete with an ensuite bathroom with shower and a private panoramic balcony overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys.

Le Macine is a pet-friendly property, and guests are welcome to bring their animals. An additional mandatory cleaning fee applies per animal per week of stay. The rental price includes utilities covering electricity, water, and gas for cooking use, as well as weekly linen changes and both initial and final cleaning of the property. The stay is also covered by the Zer0Dep Guarantee, meaning guests are not required to pay a security deposit either on balance or upon arrival.
