Today in our Villa Spotlight we turn to that gem 'under the Tuscan sun', Cortona! This lovely Tuscan hill town is a great choice for any traveler as it has more than enough to keep you busy and works great as a staging point for day trips through Tuscany and Umbria.
One favorite of the area is Lake Trasimeno, a huge and gorgeous lake dotted with interesting little towns and ruins.

"Wonderful for its views, facilities and warmth of welcome. Very well placed for visiting Siena, Montepulciano, Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi, Arrezo and of course Cortona. Very sociable living area with well equipped kitchen good size table and well arranged seating although the restaurant over the road is very good so you have to make the choice of cooking with the family (and/or friends) or walking over the road to the restaurant (having the restaurant over the road didn't cause any problem with noise or clientele etc). We went out of season when the pool wasn't available however we are very keen to go back and enjoy the real delight of sitting by the pool looking over the wonderful Tuscan countryside with views as far as Montepulciano."

Casa Ivan is located outside of Cortona and sleeps 6 people at its maximum capacity. This villa is set on a hillside with a panoramic view of the Chiana Valley and Lake Trasimeno. This old country house has been lovingly restored and fashioned into two units, one is the rental villa and the other is occupied by the owners. The villa is appointed in a Tuscan country style, with antique and modern pieces blended to create a comfortable living space for your vacation.
This villa is equipped with a pool set on a lovely gardened terrace that has views that difficult to describe in words. Shops are less than 2 km away, and a pizzeria is less than 100m from the house!
The city of Cortona itself is about 4 km away and a wonderful golf course is about 15 km away. The beaches of Lake Trasimeno are about a twenty minute drive from the house, and the other major cities of Arezzo and Perugia are approximately 30km and 45km away respectively.

"Casa Ivan was, without doubt, the perfect villa for us. The location was wonderful. We did not have a car, but was not a problem to walk but also there is shuttle bus that picks up right outside the villa. The restaurant across the street was convenient and a nice selection of menu items. The villa was just wonderful and had a very quaint feel to it. Each morning we woke up, threw open the shutters and enjoyed the magnificent views. Perfect for the 2 of us, but will accommodate up to 6 people. Cell phone would be recommended to keep in touch, as I had an international phone card, but did not work from the public phones in Cortona."

The pool is at the disposal of the guests and is open from May to September, and is surrounded by a large furnished garden. There is an outdoor barbecue and bread oven for outdoor feasting while at the villa. Parking is located on the grounds. Extra beds and maid service can be made available upon request. Casa Ivan's living room has a satellite television and a gorgeous fireplace and a double sofa bed. The kitchen / dining area is equipped with all the amenities and the bathroom has a washing machine as well. There are two bedrooms, one a twin bedded room and one a double bed and the bathroom is equipped with a shower.
