Things To Do For Free In Pisa II

Sunset over Pisa
You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great holiday in Pisa. Once you've flown there, found a luxury villa in Pisa, bought a couple souvenirs and had some great dinners, money will start to look a little scarce.

So you don't have to worry about it getting any scarcer, we've compiled two lists of things you can do absolutely for free so that you don't have to watch every penny and can just enjoy yourself.

Read this list and, if you still want more, go find the original one and see what's on there as well!
Piazza dei Cavalieri, Pisa
A highlight of Pisa for any art or architecture buffs, or anyone who appreciates some fine city planning, has to be the Knight's Square. Knight's Square, or Piazza dei Cavalieri, in Pisa is a town square and a landmark located in the University Quarter at the edge of the medieval city centre, just a short walk from the Piazza dei Miracoli (where you'll find the Leaning Tower).

This beautiful urban space was made into the masterpiece we see today by the most famous architect of the Italian Renaissance, Giorgio Vasari.
The Arno in Pisa
Be sure to stop by, admire the Church of the Knights of the Holy and Military Order of St. Stephen, Palazzo della Carovana and the Palazzo dell'Orologio. Plus, it's an excuse to take in Italian culture while eating a gelato or sipping at a coffee – how idyllic does that sound?

Another free artistic highlight is the Palazzo Blu, an art museum which is also located in the historic heart of Pisa. The museum houses both a permanent collection and important temporary exhibitions throughout the year in the beautiful palace building. Permanent artists include Artemisia and Orazio Gentileschi, Benozzo Gozzoli and Umberto Vittorini.

Works by Carmen Dell'Aversano are currently on display until the 25th of October, after which there will be an exhibition of the work of Toulouse-Lautrec.

A rather simple thing to do in Pisa that is absolutely free that many forget about in all the hustle and bustle to see the big tourist sights, is to take a stroll along the Arno. You'll spy lots of beautiful buildings, take in a bit of people-watching and, if you time it right, take some amazing shots across the water at sunset.

It really is possible to have a great time in Pisa without spending a fortune. Don't forget to check out the first article as well and hit up all the spots on these lists!
