1. Emiko Davies

Emiko Davies is half Japanese, half Australian ex-pat living in Florence with her Italian husband and daughter. As the daughter of a diplomat, she spent much of her life travelling the globe before she ended up in Florence and fell in love with a local sommelier. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since coming to live in Tuscany, Emiko has fallen madly in love with the local cuisine as well and has written two cookbooks about traditional Tuscan cuisine, “Florentine: The True Cuisine of Florence” and “Acquacotta”. She also writes a regular column for Food52 and has written extensively for Corriere della Sera, Good Food Australia, The Canberra Times, Gourmet Traveller, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Jamie Magazine and more. Furthermore, she has a stunning blog that features hearty traditional recipes and some very interesting historical recipes plucked from books centuries old. Her Instagram profile, similarly, is a thing of great beauty and will have you dying to go to Tuscany right away and eat everything in sight.

Best of all, if you become a fan, Emiko hosts cooking classes, photography workshops and talks on a regular basis so be sure to check her site to see if something lines up with your trip to a vacation rental in the Florence area.
