Fattoria Betti is a vineyard and winery that was founded in 1900 and is located in Montalbano in Chianti. A quiet and beautiful part of the region that is made up of sleepy medieval villages, little churches, rolling fields of olive groves and vineyards, and old Medici villas.
The vineyards of Fattoria Betti produce a limited number of bottles of wine per year, emphasising care and attention and are planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet, Trebbiano, Canaiolo Nero and Merlot varieties of grapes. All grapes are organic, hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. They also use “innovative technologies without betraying the ancient art of winemaking and to use the wood in a non-invasive way, in order to preserve the best the fruit of wine.” Fascinating, lovely and a producer of great wines, it is a great spot for wine-lovers who have tracked down a holiday rental in Chianti.
There are a variety of wines produced in the winery, including several Chiantis. The Chianti Monalbano DOCG is a brilliant ruby red with a pleasant bouquet and notes of amarena cherry, raspberry, violet, plum, raspberry and cyclamen. Easy to drink, it is balanced and medium bodied.
The Chianti Montalbano DOCG Riserva, meanwhile, is left longer before bottling and, therefore, more fullbodied. It has blackberry and violet notes on the nose with spiced and vegetal tones, and a leathery and pencil lead finish. Other popular wines produced by the winery are the Rosso di Toscana IGT “Prunideo” and the Rosso di Toscana IGT “Semel”.
Fattoria Betti offers guided tours of their cellar and vineyards, as well as tastings of their wines, and it is a perfect place to go and visit, spend some time learning about their wines, try some and buy some more wine to bring home and enjoy later in your vacation rental.
