
As Florence is the fashion capital of Tuscany, it is home to some of the world's most famous and beloved designers, excellent stores and some amazing fashion museums. Fashionistas who find a luxury villa in Florence take note, these are the museums you should focus on.
Continuing on from the last post, here are two more examples of excellent fashion museums in Florence...
3. The Costume Gallery of Florence
Housed in the seventeenth-century wing of Palazzo Pitti, known as the Palazzina della Meridiana, the Costume Gallery was founded in 1983. Through major acquisitions and public and private donations, it has amassed a collection of over 6,000 objects, making it one of the best fashion museums in the whole world. For any serious history or fashion buffs, it is a must but is also filled with so many objects that are simply stunning, anyone could enjoy a visit.

Dresses are displayed on mannequins with body structure typical of the period in which the dress was made, showcasing how the female form was altered using corsets and other garments over the centuries. The collection includes court and gala gowns, haute couture dresses and pieces crafted by contemporary luxury designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy, Emilio Pucci, Jean Paul Gaultier, Saint Laurent, Armani, Missoni and Valentino. There are also stage, film and TV costumes, accessories and jewellery, as well as a paper archive containing design sketches and fashion magazines.

The Roberto Capucci Foundation Museum is a lesser-known fashion museum in the city that gets talked about less ofter. Located in Villa Bardini, it exhibits the designer’s haute couture creations on rotation, as well as illustrations, drawings, sketchbooks, press articles and the foundation’s photographic collection now.

The Roberto Capucci Foundation Museum is a lesser-known fashion museum in the city that gets talked about less ofter. Located in Villa Bardini, it exhibits the designer’s haute couture creations on rotation, as well as illustrations, drawings, sketchbooks, press articles and the foundation’s photographic collection now.
