Family at a Christmas market

Forget Everything Else And Relax

The Holiday Season can be incredibly busy and tiring with all sorts of commitments. Even if you are running around to parties and to see friends and family before your break, time away for the Holidays themselves is a perfect opportunity to relax and unwind before we head into a new year. Spend your Christmas holidays with just those you love the most, resting, eating well, enjoying beautiful surroundings, and making memories that will last a lifetime at one of our villas in Tuscany this year.

Florence in the snow

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Tuscany is always beautiful but the winding little streets of pretty historic towns and the grand cities of the region are made even lovelier still when adorned with twinkling lights, decorated shop windows, and general Christmas cheer! Particularly if you are considering a vacation rental in Florence or one of the larger towns of the region, Christmas is a wonderful time to experience the stunning scenery of this gorgeous part of the world. Skiing on day-trips to the region’s resorts and maybe even being lucky enough to take in the rolling hills and valleys of Tuscany with a dusting of snow only adds to the charm of this unexpected Winter Wonderland.

Magical Markets

Speaking of a Winter Wonderland, while Tuscany is not the most famous place in the world when it comes to Christmas markets, it does boast some excellent examples. Florence has its beloved Weihnachtsmarkt, a German-style Christmas market with Alpine huts in an iconic location right before the church in the Piazza Santa Croce. In Lucca, you’ll find the whole town transformed for Christmas with a market in the Piazza Napoleone, an ice-skating rink, a carousel, and all sorts of seasonal entertainment and attractions. Many other towns and villages will have smaller markets and celebrations as well so you’ll have plenty of options for unforgettable days spent wandering around with mulled wine warming your hands, Christmas music playing in the background, and local crafts and products to browse.

Eat, Drink, And Be Merry

Of course, a Christmas vacation in Tuscany also means eating (and drinking) well! From famous Tuscan Christmas cakes and desserts such as panforte and cavallucci from Siena to roast birds such as chicken and guinea fowl sage and rosemary served up with baked potatoes and seasonal veg, from potato tortelli from Mugello to Tuscan crostini with liver pate to charcuterie selections, from stuffed pork loin to tiramisu – there are endless delicious things to try and always perfect wines to pair with them. Book (and believe us that booking will be necessary) a restaurant for an indulgent Christmas eve feast and then stock up with excellent local ingredients for Christmas day or go hunting for the restaurants that do remain open.

Meet The Christmas Witch

Don’t miss out on local traditions either – it’s your chance to learn all about Tuscan and Italian Christmas and to experience some of the unique and fascinating practices yourself. From the Tuscan witch who had Santa’s job up until recently to elaborate cribs and more there are all sorts of special experiences to have while in Tuscany during the Holidays!

So, book your holiday rental in Tuscany and then come and sample the seasonal dishes, visit markets, explore pretty towns adorned in lights, learn about local traditions, and more – it will be a Christmas that you will never forget!
