6) Terre di Siena Festival – This marvellous events runs from June to September, most of which takes place in Siena city with some others hosted in surrounding towns and villages. It encompasses other Sienese celebrations like the Val d’Orcia Festival, Montepulciano’s International Art Exhibition and the Chigiana Musical summer Festival among many more. 1) Palio di Siena – This famous event takes place on the 2nd July and the 16th of August in the city’s Piazza del Campo and draws thousands of spectators each year. This historical celebration dates back to 1633 and is a truly endeared tradition of Siena.

Situated in the famous wine making region of Chianti in Tuscany is Reggello! This stunning town stretches from the lower Arno Valley up towards the mountains of Pratomagno nearby and is close to the Renaissance city of Florence.

Every year in December an international exhibition and food market is hosted in Reggello to show off the treasured traditions of Slow Food.

Only forty kilometres south-east of Pisa is the little town of Lajatico which sits on a hilly terrain at the opening of Val di Chiana. There are quite a number of cute little villages that make up the Lajatico area. Tourists could easily walk around hamlets like Orciatico, Spedaletto and La Sterza and admire their quaint beauty. The Calendimaggio festival is a spectacular three day event that takes place in the pilgrimage town of Assisi just outside of Tuscany in the neighbouring region of Umbria!

Locals dress up in fancy costumes in the weekend following the 1st of May and the town’s two main districts, the upper side and the lower side compete against each other in a variety of fun challenges.
