In the previous article we discussed the importance of kicking back and relaxing on holidays. No matter how many museums you want to see, shops you want to visit or dishes you want to try, it's best to take it easy for at least a little bit of your holiday.

Tuscany, though the pace of life is calmer than most of us are used to, can encourage running around like a headless chicken as there is just so much to see and do and you're sure to want to do it all.

Luckily, however, it is also the perfect region in which to balance it out with some days of pure and utter relaxation as there are many wonderful and historic spa towns with natural hot springs and top-notch facilities dotted all over.     Read More

Massage in a Spa
Sometimes a holiday in Tuscany can involve so much running around from place to place, lining up for museums and planning that it isn't actually all that relaxing. If you're the type that prefers to do nothing at all during a vacation than to spend all your time exploring, you might consider checking out a spa town and getting away from it all. Tuscany is home to a whole host of beautiful, characteristic spa towns with natural hot springs and wonderful facilities that have been attracting visitors from near and far for centuries.

Just find yourself a holiday rental in Tuscany and spend some time soaking in the warm waters, getting a massage or a facial, dining on good food and forgetting the outside world for a while in one of the following spa towns. Or, if you've got money and time to spare, maybe you could even do a tour of the towns.     Read More

View over Massa Marittima
Massa Marittima is a small town in Southern Tuscany located 50 kilometres from Grosseto. It is a bit of a hidden gem, not well-known to tourists and, therefore, authentic and particularly beautiful. The town offers stunning panoramic views across the surrounding landscape due to its hilltop location, its historic centre has Etruscan origins and many striking buildings from the 13th century, its golden age for architecture, remain in tact. Massa Marittima is also often known as the 'City of Museums' because of its unique artistic and historical heritage, as seen in the variety of outstanding historic buildings and the numerous museums dotted around the town. If you're looking for a corner of Tuscany to holiday in where you can avoid the large tourist crowds of others centres such as Pisa, Siena or Florence, while not compromising on art, architecture, history or culture, just find a holiday rental in Massa Marittima.     Read More

Centre of San Gusmè
San Gusmè is a picturesque fortified medieval village on a small hill which is surrounded by a long, circular wall in the region of Chianti in Tuscany. A charming little town full of pretty buildings and churches, it offers great views across the rolling hills and plains of the typical Tuscan landscape which surrounds. Siena and the profile of Torre del Mangia and the Duomo are even visible in the distance. Unlike other towns in the area, San Gusmè is devoid of major attractions, museums or shops, its charm is in the tranquillity that it offers. Here it seems as though time stopped a long time ago and continues to do so, offering a respite from the craziness of modern life.     Read More
