Visiting the Riviera Apuana region of Tuscany is like stepping into paradise! Enjoy exploring the white sandy beaches that stretch along the Tuscan coast below the tall majestic marble mountains of the Apuan Alps. The Riviera Apuana is bordered by the River Magra and the River Versilia that flow down from higher ground into the sea, and is home to several Blue Flag beaches. The most popular of these are Marinella di Sarzana, Marina di Carrara and Marina di Massa.

Tourists have a superb selection of beautiful vacation rentals on the tuscan coast to choose from; from the towns scattered on the sea to some cosy hamlets tucked into the hills behind.

Sit back in one of the many fantastic restaurants and eateries by the seaside and order one of the speciality dishes here, a pungent fish stew called 'Cacciucco' made from the freshest catch of the day. Or try a delicious pasta dish flavoured with some local Colonnata lard that would go perfectly with a nice glass of local red or white wine.

If you would like to spend your time on level ground then take a few hours to visit the magnificent marble covered Piazza Mencione in Carrara town with its elaborate fountain in the centre. Or wander over to see the splendid Marina di Carrara where the local nautical club hosts frequent boat racing competitions throughout the year.

This town was very popular among the wealthy throughout the centuries and visitors can enjoy a stroll around some of the biggest and most picturesque villas that were built here as holiday homes. For tourists who enjoy night time entertainment then the Riviera Apuana will not disappoint!
