Come To Pisa City For A Few Days!

Pisa city is situated at the meeting of the River Arno and the River Serchio which both pour into a lagoon before flowing out to sea. An ancient Etruscan city once stood here dating back to the 5th century.

Due to its perfect sea trading position, Pisa grew massively in size and wealth during the expansion of the Roman Empire.

Its advanced water transport system, both inland via the two rivers or out to sea helped Pisa remain as a powerful city when other once great cities were falling into financial decline.

Of course it too suffered a decline of wealth and population over the centuries but today it has been restored to its former glory and is a bustling tourist hub! Be sure to visit Piazza dei Cavalieri around which a beautiful palace designed by Giorgio Vasari stands. The church of Santo Stefano also stands here, another credit to Giorgio the famous architect. Inside treasures made by Donatello and Jacopo Chimenti can be admired.

Other sites worth visiting in Pisa include the majestic Medici palace and the Royal Palace where the famous mathematician and astronomer, Galileo Galilei made his discovery of some of the solar system’s planets!

There’s even a museum here built in honour of the incredible scientific advancements and discoveries made here.
