Laterina town
Close to the fascinating ‘Le Balze’ geological site in Arezzo province is the pretty little town of Laterina. There are some beautiful churches here worth visiting such as the Oratory of San Biagio and the church of San Pietro.

Stay in a pretty vacation rental in Arezzo province for a few days and enjoy all the delights this area has to offer!

Why not drop by and see a fun medieval festival which is hosted in Laterina on the last weekend of July each year? Witness a melody of colour, song and dance and of course a fabulous outdoor feast to try all the local delicacies!
View of Terranuova Bracciolini
Close to Laterina is the beautiful commune of Terranuova Bracciolini. The area here encompasses a quaint little collection of villages and hamlets around it such as Treggiaia and Montemarciano.

Stroll around these little communities nestled in the woodlands and soak up some splendid Tuscan sunshine while you immerse yourself in nature.

Then head over to the town of Castelfranco di Sopra. This stunning town has a wonderfully preserved tower at a gate entrance to the town.
Entrance to Castelfranco di Sopra
Founded in 1299 to serve as a military outpost, Castelfranco di Sopra was once under the ownership of the Florentine republic during its frequent territorial feuds with the neighbouring provinces of Arezzo, Siena and Pisa.

Pian di Scò was once a singular town in the ‘Le Balze’ area of Tuscany but in recent years it has been merged with the adjacent town of Castelfranco di Sopra and is now called Castelfranco Piandiscò.

Finish off your tour of these lovely towns of Tuscany with a visit to the charming town of Reggello.

Be sure to visit the mesmerising Abbey of Vallombrosa which is situated in the pretty Vallombrosa forest. Read about Reggello in more detail in our dedicated article and our interesting piece of the famous ‘Le Balze’ and their famous association with Master Painter, Leonardo da Vinci!
