Monte San Savino originated as a human settlement from around 1100 and many remnants of its long an interesting past are still represented today. Stroll around the narrow paved streets and visit the stunning Palazzo di Monte and Palazzo Pretorio.

An interesting fact about Monte San Savino is that it was the hometown of the infamous catholic priest and exorcist, Fr. Angelo Fantoni. He was locally renowned as a faith healer in Arezzo town but was ridiculed as being a fraud by medical doctors who thought he was only pretending to heal his patients without medication.

In fact he was jailed for a year and fined 300,000 lire which works out at approximately €155. He was finally acquitted and subsequently written about in two books.
