Presenting a very traditional exterior with a chic and stylish polish to the interiors, Villa Poggio La Croce is a stone villa in Tuscany with a charming terracotta roof set within lovely gardens and nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Chianti wine region. Located in the countryside but just 2km (1 mile) from the town of Radda In Chianti and 19km (12 miles) from Greve In Chianti, it is also within easy day-trip distance of Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, and Arezzo. Villa Poggio La Croce boasts a private pool and can sleep up to 12 guests comfortably in six bedrooms with three bathrooms.

The picture of everything one might dream of when imagining a villa in Tuscany, Villa Poggio La Croce is incredibly picturesque and surrounded by truly breath-taking scenery. Guests can enjoy sweeping vistas over the famously lovely Tuscan landscape of patchwork fields, green hills, and lush forests from the terrace while dining or lounging or playing ping-pong due to the elevated position of the villa. Tall and proud cypresses and other trees also directly border the property and there are some in the garden itself, adding to the wonderful atmosphere and making the property feel more remote than it actually is – a perfect place for getting away from it all and indulging in peace and tranquillity.

This verdant greenery and the views also have a therapeutic effect, offering a little private slice of Arcadia to guests, which is further enhanced by the neatly manicured and plant-filled gardens. You can admire the climbing roses and blooms planted against the stone wall of the villa as you enter the house or walk down past it into the garden and breathe in the scent of lavender that is heavy in the air on summer evenings. Throughout your stay, you can spend lazy days sitting out in the shade of a tree with a good book and listening to the rustling of the leaves, sipping glasses of wine while watching the sun set over the scenery, and dining al fresco on the terrace or in the shade of the plant-draped pergola by the pool.

Speaking of the private pool, it is surrounded by sun loungers and is perfectly positioned to also make the most of those remarkable views. It is, therefore, the ideal place to hang out by the water, go for a dip to cool off during a hot summer’s day, or to go for a swim in the evening after enjoying adventures off exploring Tuscany. Furthermore, the pool is equipped with an outdoor shower and is fenced off and has life buoys, ensuring that your comfort and safety are both taken care of – something that might be particularly relevant if you are travelling with children.

As noted, once you go inside the villa, things become a little more modern but there are still plenty of Tuscan nods and even more features that allow you to make the most of a vacation in Tuscany. Expect exposed-beam ceilings, some exposed stone work like in the column in the kitchen, terracotta and stone floors, and shuttered windows, alongside a sprinkling of antiques throughout the house.

In addition to this, the villa has been finished to a high degree with style and character by adding an eclectic mixture of furnishings in different styles, a variety of patterns, some interesting works of art, and plenty of light fixtures for nice, diffused lighting. A largely muted palette with the odd statement item or pop of colour, however, ensures that the villa remains relaxing and elegant. To finish the interiors off perfectly, windows dotted throughout the house and the larger windows of the open-plan living room/kitchen and of the dining room frame the most beautiful views over the surrounding scenery like works of art in their own right.

On the ground floor, where one enters the villa, you will find the formal living room with a massive old fireplace with a stove in it, four plush armchairs, and a television. Five of the bedrooms are also on this floor, as are two of the bathrooms. Of these bedrooms, two have French beds and three have double beds, while all are also equipped with ceiling fans. Both bathrooms have a bathtub and shower as well as a bidet, toilet, and sink.

The next level down has the dining room with a table that seats all twelve potential guests and a large arched window that frames the wonderful views outside. Then, down another few stairs is the open-plan living space with a more casual living room with a giant sectional sofa and the kitchen. With large windows looking out over the landscape and the garden, this room is really bright and airy and cheerful, a real heart of the home. The kitchen area is raised slightly and has another dining table that can seat eight guests, ample counter space, and a combination of elegant modern cabinetry and sleek stainless steel appliances. You will have all of the mod-cons you need including a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, stove top, oven, toaster and Italian coffee machine. WIFI is also available all throughout the house and there are direct exits from this room out into the garden and onto the terrace, making bringing meals outside easy. This floor also has the final bedroom, another double, a bathroom with a bathtub, and a separate WC.

With two weeks free for summer 2025 – the 9th to the 16th of August and the 23rd to the 30th of August – Villa Poggio La Croce is available from €756 per night as a dream spot for a quintessential holiday in Tuscany.
